The DNG, however, works fine-I can open in darkroom mode and export as TIFF from both lighttable and darkroom mode. I get the same white balance error with the PEF and cannot export (or view the file in darkroom mode). ![]() Not being fortunate enough to have a 645Z, I downloaded the DNG and PEF raw samples at and gave it a try. I'm unclear whether the 645Z white balance information is not present in the PEF file, or DT doesn't know how to read it, or this version of DT doesn't know how to read it. " Perhaps without this the TIFF file cannot be generated correctly. The PEF file that is imported gets a displayed complaint: "failed to read camera white balance information from. There is an anomaly apparent in the "darkroom" mode that may be related. Of all the difficulties inherent in photo editing, this should be the easiest to overcome. I have kept the size to 0 x 0 so that shouldn't be an issue. " I have tried this and failed with many variations of the export parameters. The result is: "could not export to file. ![]() The DT "export selected" module in the "lighttable" mode seems straightforward, and I can set up a target directory (same as the PEF file is in) and attempt to export a TIFF file. DT generates an XMP file for each PEF file. DT has no difficulty reading 60 MB PEF files generated by a Pentax 645Z and displaying thumbnails of them. Running Darktable (DT) 2.0.7 under Linux Mint 17.3, kernel Linux 4.4.0-119-generic x86_64.
